Clinical Studies on Cholecystitis

Abstract
Clinical studies was carried out on 142 cases of cholecystitis with relatively long history who were admitted to Chung Nam University Hospital during, 4 year period from Jan. 1969 to Dec. 1972. The diagnosis of cholecystitis was base on subjective symptoms, physical findings and X-ray examination.
The results were summarized as follows:
1. The most common age incidence was in the fourth decade. The disease more frequently observed in females, the male to female ratio was; 60:82 (1:1.36).
2. Conservative medical treatment was performed on 86 cases and was resulted is good improvement of subjective symptoms in 82 cases (95.3%).
3. On operation undertaken on 56 cases, gall stones were found in 39 cases (69.6%) which consist of gall bladder stone 13 cases and common-bile duct stone 26 cases, acute and chronic inflammation without stone in 7 cases (12.5%) and ascaris was impacted bile duct in 6 patients (10.7%) of whom a case is associated with stone.
